Tampa City Council begins FY27 budget workshops as spending decisions near
Tampa City Council will begin reviewing the recommended fiscal year 2027 city budget Monday, August 3, with the first of three special-call workshops focused on enterprise funds that support major city services.
The first workshop begins at 9 a.m. at Old City Hall, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd. The sessions are part of the council’s budget review process; they do not themselves constitute final adoption of the FY27 budget.
August 3 workshop covers utility and service funds
The first workshop is scheduled to review and discuss the recommended FY27 budget for Solid Waste, Water, Wastewater and Parking enterprise funds.
Copies of the entire proposed budget are scheduled to be available through the city’s budget materials and at the City Clerk’s Office on the third floor of Old City Hall. The clerk’s office notice lists weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding city holidays.
Two more workshops are scheduled
The second workshop is scheduled for Monday, August 10, at 9 a.m. at Old City Hall. It will review and discuss the recommended budget for the Transportation and Stormwater mobility funds.
The third workshop is scheduled for Monday, August 17, at 5:01 p.m. It will cover General Fund departments including Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation and the Convention Center.
All three notices describe the sessions as workshops to review and discuss the recommended FY27 budget. They do not announce final spending, tax rates, fees or service levels.
How Tampa residents can watch and comment
Residents can attend the workshops at Old City Hall or watch, listen or view them through the city’s livestream. The notices also list Spectrum Channel 640 and Frontier Channel 15 for cable access.
Public comment is limited to the subject of the special-call workshop. Each member of the public may address City Council once for three minutes after all presentations have been made.
Residents who need a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act are instructed to contact the city’s ADA coordinator at least 48 hours before the proceeding.
Workshops come before final budget action
The August meetings are scheduled stages in the council’s review of the recommended FY27 budget. Residents tracking water, wastewater, solid waste, parking, transportation, stormwater, public safety, parks or the Convention Center should also watch for later formal budget hearings and the council’s final adoption action.
