Tinton Falls adopts data center prohibition in borough code
Tinton Falls has listed a notice of adoption for an ordinance adding data centers as a prohibited use in the borough code. The Borough of Tinton Falls Mayor and Council documents page dates the notice October 7, 2026, and identifies the measure as Ordinance 2026-1553.
The ordinance amends Sections 40-3 and 40-32 of the Borough Code. A reproduced September 15 public notice for Planning Board review describes the prohibition as applying in all borough zoning districts.
A Tinton Falls meeting summary says the council introduced the ordinance on September 15 and scheduled a second reading and public hearing for October 6. The adoption notice is dated the day after that scheduled hearing. The listing does not establish the councilโs exact vote date or the ordinanceโs effective date, exceptions, or application to existing uses or pending applications.
The change concerns data-center land uses in Tinton Falls, but the available account does not establish whether any particular project is affected. The meeting summary reports that a resident asked whether nearby Bell Works/Holmdel projects would be affected; the boroughโs Director of Law did not have project-specific details.
