Troy drivers face June detours as SR 41 ramp and roundabout overlap
Troy OH – Drivers already dealing with a closed SR 41 ramp to northbound I-75 will face another closure June 8 at Adams, Staunton and Riverside.
Troy drivers are already working around one west-side closure, and another starts June 8.
The SR 41 entrance ramp to northbound I-75 is closed for about seven days while ODOT works on an I-75 rehabilitation project between CR 25A and Elden Road. The posted detour sends drivers from SR 41 to I-75 South to SR 55 to I-75 North.
A separate city project will close the Adams Street and Staunton Road/Riverside Drive intersection beginning June 8, after the Strawberry Festival. That closure is tied to construction of a single-lane roundabout, and the city is targeting a mid-August reopening.
What changes for drivers
These projects are separate, but they overlap for anyone who uses Troy’s west side to reach I-75. Commuters heading for northbound I-75 from the SR 41 corridor will lose a direct ramp and need to plan a detour. Drivers who use Adams-Staunton-Riverside to reach downtown, west Troy or nearby neighborhoods should expect a longer summer route once the intersection closes.
For parents, that can mean more time on school or child-care runs. For downtown businesses and nearby offices, it can mean customers and deliveries taking a different path than usual. For anyone heading to or from the interstate, the safest move is to check the route before leaving.
Why the city is building the roundabout
The city says the project will convert the intersection into a single-lane roundabout with ADA-compliant crosswalks, enhanced lighting and utility upgrades. The estimated cost is $1.4 million, and the work includes a $600,000 Ohio Public Works Commission grant.
City officials say roundabouts can improve traffic flow and reduce severe crashes compared with traditional signalized intersections. The short-term tradeoff is a summer closure that starts right after a major local event and lasts through much of the season.
For now, the takeaway for Troy-area drivers is simple: one ODOT ramp closure is already affecting northbound access, and the Adams-Staunton-Riverside closure begins June 8. The first is temporary. The second is expected to shape summer travel until the city’s mid-August target reopening.
