TROY, Ala. — The City of Troy has published its 2026 residential garbage and recycling pickup holiday schedule, giving residents an official reference for service timing around observed city holidays.
The document was published Dec. 9, 2025, and applies throughout 2026. Its practical purpose is to help households plan when residential garbage and recycling will be collected around holiday-related changes and to give residents a way to verify how those changes apply to their collection district.
Key dates in the schedule
The schedule identifies Friday, July 3, 2026, as the observed holiday for Independence Day. The date is listed as the city’s holiday observance, rather than July 4 itself.
The next listed holiday-related change in the schedule is Sept. 7, 2026. Residents who normally set out household garbage or recycling near either date should consult the city’s full schedule before relying on their regular collection timing.
The notice is a planning document for residential garbage and recycling service. It does not announce a general disruption to Troy’s collection operations. Instead, it identifies holiday-related timing and provides district information for residents checking their service.
District details and resident help
The schedule includes district-specific collection information. One listed reference is “District 3—March/August.” The approved information does not expose the complete district-by-district schedule, so this reference should not be treated as a specific pickup date for every District 3 neighborhood.
Residents who need to confirm the schedule for a particular address or district can contact Troy’s 311 service or call (334) 566-0177. Those city contacts are especially useful for households trying to determine whether a holiday-related change affects their normal set-out routine.
The City of Troy’s official website also carried information about Alabama’s 21st annual sales-tax holiday for school-related purchases. That notice is separate from the residential garbage and recycling schedule, but it is another current city website update relevant to residents planning for 2026.
Residents should keep the 2026 schedule available and check the full city document as July 3 and Sept. 7 approach. The published notice supplies the official holiday framework, while the city’s 311 service and telephone line remain the listed sources for district-specific questions.
