Extreme Cold Warning Issued
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for Tuscaloosa County, effective from midnight on Saturday, January 31, through noon on Sunday, February 1. Residents can expect dangerously cold wind chills below zero during this period.
Wind Advisory in Effect
In addition to the cold temperatures, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, January 31. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are anticipated. These conditions may lead to downed trees, power outages, and increased risk of frostbite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
PARA Parks Closure
Due to the severe weather conditions, all Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority (PARA) parks and outdoor restrooms will be closed on Saturday, January 31. However, indoor facilities will remain open, and scheduled events, such as the Tuscaloosa Basketball Association youth games, will proceed as planned.
