UDOT moves Midway’s SR-113 project into paving and traffic-signal work
The Utah Department of Transportation’s reconstruction project on SR-113 in central Midway has moved into paving, with roadway work scheduled from Aug. 3 through Aug. 7 and traffic-signal installation continuing through late August.
The project covers Main Street and 400 East, with related work affecting the 500 East intersection. Drivers, pedestrians, businesses and nearby property owners should expect continued construction activity and traffic controls as the roadway and signal work progresses.
What is changing at the project site
Construction began Feb. 23, 2026. Early work included sidewalk deconstruction, along with closures of sidewalks and shoulders. During utility and roadway operations, crews used daytime flagging and one-way alternating traffic controls.
The project’s underground utility phase required full closures at the 400 East/Main Street and 500 East/Main Street intersections. UDOT’s project update says those intersection closures for underground utility work were completed June 5.
The next major step is paving. UDOT scheduled paving operations for Aug. 3-7, followed by traffic-light installation and above-ground utility work planned from early through late August. The work is part of the SR-113 roadway reconstruction and signal improvements in Midway.
What the work means for travel
Although the full intersection closures for underground utilities have ended, construction activity is continuing. Drivers may encounter flaggers, alternating one-way traffic and changing access conditions around Main Street, 400 East and 500 East. People walking through the area should also account for the ongoing sidewalk and shoulder impacts.
The project’s practical effect extends beyond motorists. Businesses and nearby property owners are working alongside an active construction zone, while pedestrians face changing routes and access conditions. The planned signal installation is intended to advance the project toward a signalized intersection and a reconstructed roadway, but the final safety and congestion effects cannot be assessed until construction is finished.
Timeline and regional context
The key project milestones are the Feb. 23 construction start, the June 5 completion of underground utility work requiring full intersection closures, and the Aug. 3-7 paving window. Signal installation and above-ground utility work are scheduled to continue through late August.
UDOT’s project update does not list a final completion date for the SR-113 work. The update therefore marks a transition into the project’s paving and visible above-ground infrastructure phases, rather than completion of the full reconstruction.
Separately, UDOT published a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on July 13, 2026, for a Heber Valley corridor project. That document identifies Alternative B as the preferred alternative and discusses congestion, property effects and emergency-route considerations. It is a separate regional project and does not indicate that the SR-113 work in Midway is complete.
