Vallejo-Area Gas Near $5.50 as Diesel Tops $6.75
Regular gas in the Vallejo-Fairfield metro edged lower while diesel moved higher in AAA’s August 5, 2026, price check. AAA listed regular gas at $5.4978 per gallon, down 0.44 cents from the previous day, and diesel at $6.7497 per gallon, up 0.72 cents.
The figures are metro averages rather than the posted price at every station in Vallejo. Individual pumps can vary by location, brand and update time, so drivers should compare nearby stations before filling up.
Regular gas is nearly flat for the week but higher over longer periods
Regular gas was up 0.13 cents from a week earlier, a change that is effectively flat for most drivers. The longer comparisons show more pressure: the metro average rose 16.91 cents from one month earlier and was 94.87 cents higher than a year ago.
That combination means a small one-day dip does not erase the larger increase households have absorbed over the past year. For daily commuters, even modest changes can add up across repeated trips, especially for people driving long distances to work, school, medical appointments or errands.
Diesel rises and shows the larger increase
Diesel moved in the opposite direction on August 5. The Vallejo-Fairfield average rose 0.72 cents from the previous day, increased 4.87 cents from the prior week and climbed 45.79 cents from one month earlier. Compared with a year ago, diesel was up $1.5084 per gallon.
The sharper diesel increase matters directly for delivery vehicles, contractors, landscapers, repair crews, construction equipment and other commercial operations. Higher fuel costs can affect delivery routes, service calls and operating budgets, and businesses may eventually weigh whether to absorb those costs or pass some of them through to customers.
What Vallejo drivers should watch
AAA’s California average on August 5 was $5.6377 for regular gas and $6.9064 for diesel, providing statewide context but not a substitute for the Vallejo-Fairfield figures. The U.S. Energy Information Administration also tracks California gasoline and diesel prices on a weekly basis, though those figures are broader and may not move at the same pace as the daily metro update.
For commuters and weekend travelers, the practical question remains the price at the station near home, work or the highway. Restaurants, delivery businesses and other fuel-dependent services may also feel the effects through transportation and supply costs.
