Vancouver Seeks Vendors for Public EV Charging Pilot

Vancouver has issued a request for proposals seeking vendors for a planned public electric-vehicle charging pilot at sites across the city.

RFP 39-26 covers the purchase and operation of charging equipment, backend software, payment processing and customer support. The city is seeking a system that would cover more than the physical chargers, including the software and customer-facing services needed to operate public charging locations.

The notice says site design, engineering, construction, installation and ongoing maintenance would be handled through separate solicitations or contracts. That separates the proposed vendor’s role in supplying and operating the charging system from the work needed to build and maintain the sites.

A nonmandatory virtual pre-submittal meeting was scheduled for July 21, 2026. Proposals are due by 3 p.m. Pacific time on Aug. 5, 2026. The notice does not identify how many chargers the pilot would include or where they would be located.

The pilot could expand publicly accessible charging while giving Vancouver a framework for managing payments, software, customer assistance and operations at public sites. The proposal deadline is the next major step identified in the procurement.
