Vanderbilt Hosts March Madness as Outdoor Events and Fairgrounds Fill the Weekend
Nashville, TN – March 21, 2026 – Vanderbilt hosts NCAA games as city parks and the Fairgrounds pack the weekend calendar.
Nashville is heading into the weekend with a mix of college basketball buzz, packed park programs and a busy schedule at the Fairgrounds.
Vanderbilt Hosts NCAA Tournament Games
Bridgestone Arena and the Vanderbilt campus are in the national spotlight as the Commodores women’s basketball team hosts early rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The team earned a high seed and the advantage of playing at home, drawing fans downtown and adding to an already energetic March sports calendar.
Local officials expect heavier traffic near campus and downtown venues as visitors arrive for tournament play. Businesses around Midtown and Lower Broadway are also preparing for a strong weekend crowd.
Fairgrounds Packed with Events
The Nashville Fairgrounds is juggling multiple events this Saturday, including the All American Plant & Reptile Expo, the Dixie Children’s market and a Nashville SC match later in the day. Speedway Media Day and other specialty gatherings are also on the calendar.
With overlapping events and a Major League Soccer kickoff scheduled for the evening, drivers are encouraged to plan ahead for road closures and increased congestion around Nolensville Pike and surrounding routes.
Outdoor Nashville Programs in Full Swing
Metro Parks is offering several nature-focused programs Saturday, including Wild Neighbors: Sharing Space with Wildlife at Warner Park and the Shelby Outdoor Recreation Open House at Shelby Park.
The free programs highlight spring wildlife activity and outdoor recreation opportunities as warmer weather settles into Middle Tennessee. Park leaders say March traditionally marks one of the busiest stretches for guided hikes, family programming and community events.
From tournament tipoffs to nature walks and specialty expos, Nashville’s first full weekend of spring is bringing plenty of ways to get out and explore the city.
