The McLennan County courthouse complex in Waco was evacuated Friday, Oct. 23, after a bomb threat was reported at about 8 a.m., KWTX reported. FOX 44 also reported that the complex was searched after the evacuation.
Nearby institutions took different precautions. St. Paulโs Episcopal School evacuated students and sent them home, while Columbus Avenue Baptist Church went into lockdown but was not evacuated, KWTX reported.
KWTX later reported that the courthouse had been cleared to reopen and that people had returned to county buildings. The report did not specify whether members of the public were among them, so a return to county buildings does not confirm public access. Anyone planning a courthouse visit should confirm access with county officials before going.
