Wadsworth school tax proposal remains unresolved after five-option certification process
Wadsworth City Schools approved five resolutions at a June 30 special meeting involving a possible November 2026 ballot issue. The board sent the property-tax options to the Medina County Auditor and the income-tax options to the Ohio Tax Commissioner for certification.
The choices are a 0.75% earned-income tax, a 0.75% traditional income tax, a 1.00% earned-income tax, a 7.9-mill property tax for five years, or a 7.9-mill property tax continuing indefinitely.
The Board of Education scheduled another special meeting for July 20, 2026, to decide which option, if any, to pursue. The district’s 2026 meetings page lists the meeting at Wadsworth High School, 625 Broad Street.
Wadsworth City Schools’ official news page does not display a final selection or certified November ballot language. No option should yet be described as the measure voters will see. The board’s eventual choice would determine whether the possible measure uses an income tax or property tax, along with its rate and duration, and could affect school funding and household tax obligations. The Medina County Board of Elections maintains the official questions-and-issues lookup for the county, but it does not establish an outcome for this Wadsworth proposal.
