The Woodland City Council voted June 16, 2026, to place Measure Y, a proposed one-cent local sales tax, on the November 2026 ballot. The decision moves the proposal to a citywide voter decision scheduled for Nov. 3.
The councilโs action placed the measure before voters but did not enact the tax. Measure Y remains a proposal until Woodland voters decide whether to approve it in the November election.
What Measure Y proposes
Measure Y proposes increasing the local sales-tax rate by one cent. If approved, the change would alter the local sales-tax burden and provide the city with a new source of revenue.
The measureโs status is therefore different from an approved tax: the City Council has authorized its placement on the ballot, while the final decision remains with voters. The cityโs Measure Y information page identifies the proposal as a one-cent local sales tax and records the councilโs June 16 vote.
The city has not stated projected annual revenue or a sunset period on that information page. Those details are separate from the question now before voters: whether to approve the proposed one-cent increase.
Next step
Woodlandโs official election page lists Nov. 3, 2026, as the election date and provides election information for residents. The city has also published a dedicated Measure Y page ahead of the vote.
The November election will determine whether Measure Y receives voter approval. Until then, the proposed tax remains subject to that citywide decision.
