BLS pages still show schedule for second-quarter productivity report
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics scheduled its preliminary Productivity and Costs report for the second quarter of 2026 for Aug. 6, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. The BLS release schedule also lists a revised second-quarter report for Sept. 3.
But the agency’s productivity homepage and archived release page continued to display first-quarter 2026 results and the second-quarter release schedule rather than second-quarter outcome tables. The preliminary second-quarter productivity growth rate was not shown on those pages. BLS has not stated why the second-quarter tables were not available there.
The report covers labor productivity, output, hours worked, hourly compensation, real hourly compensation and unit labor costs across the BLS Productivity and Costs program’s U.S. business, nonfarm-business and manufacturing sectors. Those measures help gauge how much workers produce, how compensation is changing and what labor costs employers face, making the release relevant to readings of wage pressure and business costs.
The next scheduled step is the revised second-quarter release on Sept. 3, 2026. Until the preliminary tables are posted, the release schedule should not be treated as the publication of the second-quarter results.
