Justice Department posts records tied to Garland-Milley meeting and prior attorney general statements

The U.S. Department of Justice posted new records in its public FOIA library concerning a meeting between former Attorney General Merrick Garland and Gen. Mark Milley, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Office of Information Policy listed the Garland-Milley records on July 23, 2026.

The entry identifies a final response covering Aug. 9-10, 2022. A separate FOIA library entry, posted July 22, 2026, concerns records relied upon by Garland in making various public statements. DOJ displays that entry as a supplemental response covering Oct. 21, 2021, through April 26, 2021.
