Laramie County has formally set Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, as the date of its primary election, publishing a proclamation and voting materials for an election that includes City of Cheyenne, county, state and federal offices.
The election is the next scheduled primary decision point for voters in Cheyenne and elsewhere in Laramie County. The countyโs materials list three ways to vote: absentee ballot, early in-person voting and voting on Election Day.
Early voting listed through Aug. 17
County election materials list an early-voting period from July 21 through Aug. 17, the day before the primary. The county has also published a 2026 key-dates pamphlet and other primary-election materials.
Voters using an absentee ballot, voting early in person or voting on Aug. 18 are participating in the same scheduled primary election. The countyโs election page identifies those options but the reviewed materials do not provide a current count of ballots returned or voter turnout.
The Aug. 18 date is a scheduled election date established through the countyโs primary-election proclamation. It is not a report of election results, a certification of winners or a record of a vote by a governing body.
Offices include Cheyenne positions
The official proclamation says the primary will fill prescribed offices of the United States, the State of Wyoming, Laramie County and the City of Cheyenne. That means the electionโs scope extends beyond municipal government while also including offices connected to Cheyenne.
The proclamation does not establish that every office within those levels of government is contested. It also does not identify likely winners or partisan outcomes.
For municipal-government information outside the election materials, the City of Cheyenne maintains an official archive of 2026 City Council meetings and public agendas. The council is Cheyenneโs municipal governing body, but the reviewed council page does not document a new council vote in the preceding 48 hours.
What voters can verify now
Laramie Countyโs election page and primary proclamation provide the countyโs official information on the Aug. 18 primary and available voting methods. The key dates materials identify the early-voting window ending Aug. 17.
With the primary approaching, the published materials establish the election schedule and the offices covered, while candidate contests and election outcomes remain separate matters from the countyโs proclamation.
