California billionaire-tax Proposition 40 trails in unofficial count
California’s Proposition 40, a proposed one-time wealth tax on billionaires, trailed in unofficial Secretary of State returns Wednesday. The measure had 3,419,197 yes votes, or 44.4%, and 4,277,735 no votes, or 55.6%, with 23,801 of 23,860 precincts partially reporting.
