City Developments
The Bryan-College Station area has been recognized for its economic growth. The region ranked No. 28 nationally and No. 3 in Texas on the Milken Institute’s annual Best-Performing Cities list for large metropolitan areas. This reflects continued economic momentum, improving from No. 45 in 2024 and No. 37 in 2025.
Public Safety
On February 1, 2026, a fatal crash occurred on Highway 6 near the 1900 block of North Earl Rudder Freeway in Bryan. Both northbound and southbound lanes were closed as authorities investigated the incident. Drivers were advised to exit at Tabor Road in both directions. City Leadership
The Bryan City Council has appointed Andrew Nelson, former CEO of Lisam America, Inc., as the new city manager. Nelson, who served as mayor of Bryan from 2016 to 2022, is set to begin his new role on November 24, 2026. During his tenure as mayor, Nelson worked with the City Council and staff to navigate challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic and Winter Storm Uri. His leadership contributed to significant developments such as the annexation of the Texas A&M-RELLIS Campus and the creation of Travis Bryan Midtown Park.
