Tribal resilience exhibit opens at Second Story Gallery

A new traveling exhibit, “We’re Still Here: The Resilience of Washington Tribes,” is now on display at the Camas Public Library’s Second Story Gallery through February 28. The show highlights the history, present-day experiences, and ongoing cultural work of tribes across Washington state.

The exhibit pairs historical context with contemporary stories of language revitalization, treaty rights, and connections to land. Library staff say they hope the gallery becomes a space for reflection and conversation throughout the month.

Native Story Hour today at 4 p.m.

As part of the exhibit’s opening weekend, the library is hosting a Native Story Hour this afternoon at 4 p.m. Guest storyteller Karen Kitchen will lead songs and stories for all ages. The event is free, and no registration is required, making it an easy add-on to a Saturday downtown visit.

Donation drive aims to stock new personal care pantries

The library is also running a Personal Care Donation Drive from February 2 through February 28. Residents are encouraged to drop off new, unopened hygiene items to help launch small personal care pantries on the building’s first floor.

Requested donations include everyday essentials such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, and similar items. The goal is to create a low-barrier resource for neighbors who need a little extra help, while keeping the space welcoming and discreet.

City issues decision on Fire Station 41 parking

City officials have posted a notice of decision related to parking at Fire Station 41 downtown. The filing appears as a land use variance under file number VAR25-1001 and outlines how parking around the station will be managed going forward.

Looking ahead: Development hearing and fluoride clarification
