Commission Meeting Shift, Food Distribution, and New Openings Lead Miami Headlines
Miami, FL – March 7, 2026 – City leaders combine commission meetings, North Miami Beach hosts food giveaway, and new restaurants debut.
It has been a busy stretch across Miami, with city government updates, community relief efforts, and new business openings all making headlines this week.
City Commission Meetings Combined
Miami officials announced that the March 12 and March 26 City Commission meetings will be consolidated into a single session on Thursday, March 12 at 9 a.m. at City Hall on Pan American Drive.
The change, approved under a recent resolution, streamlines the city’s March calendar. If unforeseen circumstances arise, a special meeting is scheduled for March 17. Residents planning to attend or speak should double-check the updated agenda ahead of time.
Food Distribution Event in North Miami Beach
In response to concerns over federal SNAP benefit stability, North Miami Beach is hosting a free food distribution event on Saturday, March 7, beginning at 10 a.m.
City officials say the effort is designed to support families facing rising grocery costs and uncertainty around assistance programs. The drive-through style event is expected to run through early afternoon while supplies last.
New Restaurants and Openings for 305 Month
March is off to a flavorful start. Several highly anticipated restaurant openings are rolling out across Miami this month, including new concepts debuting in Coral Gables and other neighborhoods.
Some celebrated with ribbon-cuttings on March 5 in honor of 305 Day, while additional openings are slated throughout the coming weeks. The surge underscores continued growth in Miami’s dining scene heading into spring.
Miami Children’s Museum Unveils March Lineup
Families can also look forward to a full calendar at the Miami Children’s Museum. The museum is launching a new miniature golf exhibit later this month, along with special themed programming and evening events.
The public opening for the interactive exhibit is scheduled for March 21 and 22, followed by a glow-themed night event on March 27.
