Miami Regular Gas Falls, Diesel Stays Above $5.35 in Latest AAA Check
Miami metro regular gasoline averages $3.893 per gallon after falling from yesterday and last week, while diesel averages $5.358 and remains sharply higher than a month and a year ago.
Miami-area regular gasoline prices continued to ease in AAAโs latest check, while diesel remained above $5.35 per gallon and stayed much higher than earlier comparison periods. The Aug. 1 metro averages were $3.893 for regular gas and $5.358 for diesel.
Regular gasoline is lower than yesterday and last week
AAAโs Miami metro average for regular gasoline was $3.893 per gallon on Aug. 1. That was 1.6 cents below the previous dayโs $3.909 average and 8.3 cents below the $3.976 average recorded a week earlier.
The shorter-term decline has not erased the longer-term increase. Miamiโs regular-gas average was 8.8 cents higher than a month ago, when AAA listed it at $3.805, and 92.7 cents above the year-ago average of $2.966.
For commuters and households using gasoline-powered cars and light trucks, the latest daily and weekly declines offer some relief at the pump. The monthly and yearly comparisons show that fuel remains considerably more expensive than during those earlier periods.
Diesel is lower daily but higher than last week
Diesel averaged $5.358 per gallon in the Miami metro area, according to AAA. That was 1.1 cents below the prior dayโs $5.369 average.
The weekly comparison moved in the other direction. Miami diesel was 4.5 cents higher than the $5.313 average AAA reported a week earlier. It was also 73.6 cents above the month-ago average of $4.622 and $1.852 higher than the year-ago average of $3.506.
That split gives diesel users a different cost picture from gasoline drivers. Delivery operators, contractors, service businesses, commercial fleets and other companies that use diesel may face more fuel-cost pressure even as regular gasoline prices decline.
EIA provides dated weekly context
The U.S. Energy Information Administrationโs Miami series listed regular gasoline at $3.924 per gallon for the week ending July 27, 2026. That official weekly figure is close to AAAโs newer $3.893 metro snapshot, but the measures differ in timing and methodology.
AAAโs figures are metro averages with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly comparison windows. They are not the price at every station in Miami or across the broader metro area. EIAโs figure is a dated weekly estimate and should be read as official weekly context rather than a same-day pump quote.
What Miami drivers and businesses should watch
Gasoline users may see modest savings if the recent decline continues, although the latest month and year comparisons remain elevated. Diesel users should watch whether the weekly increase persists because even small per-gallon changes can add up for vehicles that travel long distances or consume fuel throughout the workday.
Actual prices vary by neighborhood, station brand, fuel grade and local competition. Miami residents and businesses can compare nearby station signs with the metro averages before filling up.
