Federal officers intercepted more than $6.8 million worth of cocaine at the World Trade Bridge this week. Authorities said the drugs were hidden inside a shipment of fresh roses arriving from Mexico.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 83

Laredo police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that left one person dead and another critically injured along Highway 83.

First responders arrived to find two riders with severe injuries. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported for emergency medical care. Authorities have not released additional details as they continue to examine the cause of the crash.

Buena Vista Sports Complex Opens

On a more celebratory note, the City of Laredo officially opened the new Buena Vista Sports Complex in South Laredo.

The $45 million facility debuted with a ceremonial first pitch and a community celebration. City leaders say the complex is designed to expand recreational opportunities, host tournaments and support youth athletics across the region.

Spring Events Return to North Central Park

Meanwhile, families are preparing for the return of the annual Kite Festival and Concert in the Park at North Central Park. The popular spring tradition will feature live music, colorful kite displays and family-friendly activities.

Organizers say the event continues to grow each year, offering residents a chance to gather outdoors as warmer weather settles into the area.
