Atlanta gas prices dip again; diesel stays about $1.10 above regular
Atlanta fuel prices eased again, with regular gas and diesel both lower than the last AAA check and diesel still about $1.10 above regular.
Atlanta drivers are seeing another small break at the pump. AAA’s latest metro check puts regular gas at $3.833 a gallon and diesel at $4.935 as of June 8. Regular is down 0.7 cent from yesterday, 5.2 cents from last week, 36.4 cents from last month, and 94.3 cents from a year ago. Diesel is down 1.9 cents from yesterday, 1.4 cents from last week, 29.7 cents from last month, and $1.47 from a year ago.
Regular gas keeps easing
Regular gas is now lower than yesterday, last week, last month, and last year, which gives commuters a modest break before weekday fill-ups and weekend driving. It is still not cheap fuel, but the direction is better for households trying to manage routine travel costs.
Diesel still carries the bigger bill
Diesel dipped again, but only slightly from last week. At $4.935, it remains about $1.10 above regular gas, a gap that matters for contractors, delivery drivers, small fleets, and anyone who burns through fuel quickly. Even after this latest move, diesel is still much higher than a year ago.
National fuel costs are easing too
The Atlanta drop fits a wider national trend. AAA’s June 4 national note said the U.S. regular-gas average had fallen 18 cents in a week to $4.24, and AAA’s current national average is $4.164. The Energy Information Administration’s latest weekly update, released June 2, also showed U.S. regular gasoline and on-highway diesel prices lower week over week. That gives Atlanta’s move broader market context without changing the local story.
For households, this is helpful but not a return to cheap fuel. For businesses that buy diesel, the premium still hits hauling, delivery, landscaping, and service work harder than it does a standard commute.
