Mission Viejo Parade July 11: Road closures start 6 a.m. + parking shuttle plans

For Saturday, July 11, 2026—now in the past—Mission Viejo held its America 250 Mission Viejo Parade. The parade kicked off at 9 a.m. in front of St. Kilian Church, 26872 Estanciero Drive, traveled along Marguerite Parkway, turned onto La Paz Road, and ended at the BBQ Music Fest at Oso Viejo Community Park, 24932 Veterans Way.

Before the event, the City posted road-closure timing plus separate parking and shuttle plans to reduce confusion around the parade route (especially near La Paz and Marguerite).

When closures were expected to affect drivers

The City warned that parade-related road-control measures could start as early as 6 a.m.. It also published a route-closure map showing key street closures from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Which streets and intersections had closures (from the City map)

On the City’s Parade Route and Closures map for 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the labeled closures and access notes included:

• La Paz / Marguerite intersection: closed 8:30 a.m. to noon.
• Southbound Marguerite: closed (the map also notes limited access for a gas station from southbound Marguerite and “only access” corridors around the area).
• La Paz westbound: closed at Veterans Way.
• Only-access directions near Estanciero: the map labels “Only Access from Estanciero” (including access through the Village Center area) and other restricted access points around the staging/start area.

Bottom line: even though the main closure window was 8:30 a.m.–12 p.m., the City’s guidance said impacts could begin by 6 a.m., so residents planning early-morning trips were directed to use alternate routes well ahead of the peak window.

Where to park (spectators vs. parade participants) + shuttle timing

The City separated parking and shuttles based on whether you were there as a spectator or as a parade participant:

• Spectators parking: Mission Viejo High School, 25025 Chrisanta Drive.
• Parade participants parking: Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

Shuttles (as posted by the City):

• High School ↔ parade route: shuttles ran 6 to 8:30 a.m., then again after the parade until noon.
• Norman P. Murray ↔ parade route: shuttles ran 6 to 8:30 a.m., then again following the parade until noon.

ADA parking and viewing for spectators

For spectators, the City said an ADA parking lot was available at the Potocki Center for the Arts, 27301 La Paz Road. The City also directed people to use a parade viewing area in front of the lot along La Paz.

St. Kilian Church driveway/access notice (for nearby residents)

St. Kilian Catholic Church posted its own day-of access guidance. It said the church’s lower parking lot would be used for staging the parade line up, and that:

• Cars could not access the property from Marguerite.
• Cars could not exit during the road closure from 8 a.m. to noon.
• People coming to the church could only enter and exit via the church’s main driveway on Estanciero, coming from the neighborhood direction.

Note on timing: St. Kilian’s restriction window ran 8 a.m. to noon, while the City’s parade route street-closure map shows closures from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
