Trevose Road bridge detour ends July 20 near Poquessing Creek: what to know

Drivers using Trevose Road over Poquessing Creek in Lower Southampton Township had a clear timetable from PennDOT: the bridge was scheduled to be closed and detoured 24/7 from Monday, June 22 through Monday, July 20, 2026.

Now that it’s July 22, the practical question for commuters is still: does the field setup look fully cleared where you drive? PennDOT notes that work activities are weather dependent, and drivers should expect backups/delays while the detour is in effect.

Where the work is (and what PennDOT is doing)

PennDOT’s project is on the Trevose Road bridge over Poquessing Creek in Lower Southampton Township. The rehab includes an Latex Modified Concrete (LMC) overlay, deck joint resealing/replacement, substructure crack repairs, concrete repairs to the underside of the deck, spall repairs to the barrier, and replacement of a missing metal railing in-kind. PennDOT also says vegetation will be cleared from the approaches, and rock protection will be placed near the east abutment wingwalls to mitigate erosion.

Detour route during the closure window

While Trevose Road was closed, PennDOT directed motorists to follow this detour path:

• Route 132 (Street Road) →
• Philmont Avenue →
• Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue)

PennDOT also said local access will be maintained at all times, but drivers should allow extra time because backups and delays can occur near the work area and along the detour route.

Heat advisory backstory: early-morning cement pour

Separately, Lower Southampton Township issued a heat advisory for this project. The township said the cement pour for the bridge would begin at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2 to help protect the work crew and the curing cement. The township said this temporary schedule change was intended to keep the vendor on track for the bridge to reopen by Monday, July 20.

July 22 driver checklist (simple, practical steps)
