Fort Lauderdale Gas Falls to $3.951 as Diesel Eases to $5.436

Regular gasoline and diesel prices both declined in the latest AAA Fort Lauderdale metro check, but the two fuels are following different weekly trends. Regular gas averaged $3.951 per gallon on July 31, down 1.4 cents from the previous day. Diesel averaged $5.436 per gallon, down 0.8 cents.

The daily declines offer only limited relief. Regular gasoline was 5.7 cents lower than a week earlier, when the Fort Lauderdale metro average was $4.008. Diesel, by contrast, was still 16 cents higher than its week-ago average of $5.276.

Diesel remains the larger pressure point

AAA’s comparison data also shows how much higher prices remain than a year ago. Regular gasoline was up 94.6 cents per gallon from the same period last year, while diesel was up $1.847. That difference matters for delivery fleets, contractors, landscaping companies, service businesses, commercial vehicles and other operations that move people or goods around Broward County.

For households, the immediate effect is a slightly lower cost for filling a regular-gas vehicle than during the previous AAA check. Commuters and weekend travelers may see meaningful differences from one station to another, depending on neighborhood, brand, payment method and proximity to major roads. A small change in the metro average does not mean every station has changed by the same amount.

Businesses that rely on diesel may continue to face higher operating costs even as the daily average moves down. Metro average versus pump price

The latest U.S. Energy Information Administration data provides a broader South Florida benchmark: its weekly regular-gas series showed $3.921 per gallon for the week of July 27. That figure covers a different geography, product series and reporting period, so it should be used for regional context rather than as a replacement for AAA’s Fort Lauderdale metro check.
