NJ housing agency approves financing for supportive housing in Waldwick
The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency approved financing July 21, 2026, for a new supportive-housing community in Waldwick, advancing a project intended to address special-needs housing in the borough.
The approval is the first concrete development identified in the reviewed announcement. It does not mean construction has started, and it does not establish when residents could move in. The agency has not provided the projectโs unit count, financing amount, exact address, developer, service provider, affordability restrictions or construction timetable in the material reviewed for this report.
What the approval means
NJHMFA described the development as supportive housing and said it serves special-needs housing purposes. That description is being attributed to the state housing agency; the available announcement does not specify the resident population or the services that would be offered.
The agency also described Waldwick as one of New Jerseyโs most competitive housing markets. For residents who need specialized housing, the financing approval could advance an additional housing option, but the practical scope of that option will depend on details that have not yet been released.
The approved financing is a project milestone, not a confirmation of completion or occupancy. The available information does not establish a construction start date, a completion date or a leasing process.
What local records may show
Waldwickโs official website identifies the borough as a Bergen County municipality and maintains planning, zoning and redevelopment information. Its redevelopment page identifies the Harrison Avenue Redevelopment Plan as having been adopted in December 2024. The boroughโs public-notice archive also includes 2026 zoning approvals and planning notices.
Those municipal records provide a path for checking whether the housing project has a local planning or redevelopment component. The reviewed material does not, however, establish that the project is part of the Harrison Avenue plan or identify a local approval connected to the state financing.
One address appearing in a borough health notice, 245 Wyckoff Ave., should not be treated as the project location. The available information does not establish the supportive-housing communityโs address.
Other July 21 change
The boroughโs home page also reported that daily parking became available at the Waldwick Train Station lot at $4 per day beginning July 21, 2026. That service change is separate from the housing-financing approval.
The next known step for the housing project is the release or review of fuller NJHMFA and municipal records. Until those records identify the projectโs size, cost, location and schedule, the financing approval is the extent of what can be confirmed.
