Hollywood’s Phase II Accela Permitting System Goes Live

Hollywood’s Phase II Accela permitting system went live at 7 a.m. on Aug. 4, changing how residents, contractors and developers submit and track permits and other development-related applications with the city.

The launch was announced by the City of Hollywood’s Planning and Urban Design Division. The system is part of the city’s development and permitting operations and is available to both city staff and the public.

What the change means

Accela is the platform the city is using for Phase II of its permitting-system transition. For people working on development applications in Hollywood, the change affects the basic administrative process: submitting materials, following an application and interacting with the city’s development-services operation.

The available city notice confirms that Phase II went live, but it does not provide performance data showing whether permits will be processed faster or whether application reviews will become more efficient. It also does not report any launch-day outages.

Separate Hollywood Boulevard work

A separate project is also affecting Hollywood Boulevard during the same period. The Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency reported that bollard installation was scheduled from July 20 through Aug. 17.

That work is not part of the Accela launch. The agency said roadway restrictions were scheduled for the mornings of Aug. 7 and Aug. 17. Anyone visiting the Development Services Hub or traveling along Hollywood Boulevard on those dates should account for the reported restrictions, although the available notice does not specify their duration.

What happens next

Phase II’s next step is its use by city staff and the public now that the Aug. 4 launch has occurred. The approved city information does not identify a later rollout date, provide a transition timetable for additional services or publish early results from the system.

For now, the verified change is narrower and more concrete: Hollywood has placed Phase II of its Accela permitting system into operation for development and permitting work. Applicants will need to use the city’s updated process while the city continues operating its Development Services Hub at 2600 Hollywood Boulevard.
