Hollywood’s August election includes an open Broward Commission District 6 race
Hollywood-area voters who live in Broward County Commission District 6 will decide an open county commission seat in the August 18, 2026, election. The seat is open because incumbent Commissioner Beam Furr is term-limited.
The race is separate from Hollywood city elections and applies only to eligible voters who live within District 6. The district includes parts of Hollywood and neighboring Broward municipalities, including Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, Pembroke Park and West Park.
Four Democrats are officially listed
The Broward County Supervisor of Elections’ official candidate list names four Democratic candidates for District 6: Eugen Bold, Jeffery Jones, A. J. Ryan and Caryl Shuham.
No Republican candidate is listed for District 6 on the current official candidate list. If that list remains unchanged, the August 18 Democratic primary will determine the nominee for voters in the district. The race is not already decided, and the status could change if the ballot is amended under applicable election rules.
Voting dates for District 6 residents
Election Day is Tuesday, August 18. Broward’s early-voting period runs from Saturday, August 8, through Sunday, August 16, with polling locations open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Hollywood Branch Library, 2600 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida 33020, is listed as an early-voting location. Voters should confirm their eligibility, registration status and available voting options with the Broward County Supervisor of Elections before voting.
Vote-by-mail deadlines
Voters who want a vote-by-mail ballot mailed to them must request it by 5 p.m. Thursday, August 6. Completed vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections’ office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day, August 18.
The county lists July 20 as the deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation for the August primary. Residents should confirm that they live in Commission District 6 and check their voter status before casting a ballot.
For eligible Hollywood voters in the district, the next immediate date is the start of early voting on August 8. The primary concludes August 18, when voters will choose the Democratic nominee for the open county commission seat if the current ballot remains unchanged.
