SK hynixโs preliminary third-quarter revenue topped 100 trillion won for the first time, reaching 104.6155 trillion won in results reported Oct. 28, 2026. Operating profit was 83.3338 trillion won, and net income was 39.7756 trillion won. The company called revenue and operating profit quarterly records.
The figures show a sharp contrast between the latest quarter and the same period last year. Revenue and operating profit rose from the second quarter, while net income fell. Compared with Q3 2025, however, all three measures increased.
| Measure | Q3 2026 | Q2 2026 | Q3 2025 | Change from Q2 | Change from year earlier |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 104.6155 trillion won | 79.3187 trillion won | 24.4489 trillion won | +32% | +328% |
| Operating profit | 83.3338 trillion won | 60.5426 trillion won | 11.3834 trillion won | +38% | +632% |
| Net income | 39.7756 trillion won | 93.9226 trillion won | 12.5975 trillion won | โ58% | +216% |
The different comparisons matter: net income more than tripled from a year earlier but fell by more than half from Q2. The company did not give a specific cause for that quarter-to-quarter decline in its results announcement. Its reported 632% annual increase in operating profit means the Q3 figure was about 7.3 times the year-earlier amount; revenue, up 328%, was about 4.3 times its year-earlier level.
SK hynix reported an operating margin of 80%, compared with 76% in Q2 and 47% in Q3 2025. The company attributed its results to rising prices for key products amid growing demand for AI memory and growth in higher-value products. Reuters also reported that higher memory-chip prices were supported by continuing demand for AI infrastructure.
Operating profit was above the 76.7 trillion-won LSEG SmartEstimate reported by Reuters. The difference was about 6.6 trillion won, or roughly 8.6% of the estimate. Yonhap reported that SK hynix had recorded quarterly revenue and operating-profit highs for six consecutive quarters, beginning in Q2 2025.
Dividend and buyback have different shareholder effects
The board approved a third-quarter cash dividend totaling 14 trillion won, equal to 20,000 won per share. That amount includes a 10,000-won special dividend, which the company associated with gains from its investment in Kioxia. The company did not specify a payment date in its announcement.
The board also approved a 20 trillion-won share repurchase. SK hynix said 10 trillion won of the repurchased shares would be cancelled, while approximately 10 trillion won would be used for employee compensation. The company does not count that employee-compensation portion as a shareholder return, so the full 20 trillion won should not be read as a return to shareholders.
For fiscal 2026, SK hynix said it aims to provide approximately 100 trillion won in shareholder returns, including at least 30 trillion won in cash dividends and at least 60 trillion won in share repurchases and cancellations. The plan includes a 40 trillion-won repurchase announced in August, which the company said it completed the week before the results announcement.
The Q3 figures remain preliminary: SK hynix said its review was not final and that the numbers could change during independent auditing.
