Altoona gas edges down, diesel stays above $6 in latest AAA check
Altoona PA Gas & Diesel Watch – Regular gas eased to $4.680, while Altoona diesel held at $6.077 and both are still higher than a year ago.
Altoona drivers are seeing a small break on regular gasoline, but diesel is still above $6. AAA’s latest check puts Altoona regular at $4.680 a gallon and diesel at $6.077. Regular gas is down 1.2 cents from yesterday, while diesel is flat day to day.
The bigger picture is still expensive. Regular gas is up 17.8 cents from a week ago, 50.2 cents from a month ago, and $1.292 from a year ago. Diesel is up 4.3 cents from a week ago and $2.139 from a year ago, even though it is 9.2 cents lower than a month ago.
Altoona is also running above the broader benchmarks. Pennsylvania averages are $4.676 for regular and $5.970 for diesel, while the U.S. averages are $4.522 and $5.647. The latest federal weekly fuel update shows the national market still running above year-ago levels, too.
For commuters, households, contractors, delivery drivers, restaurants, and weekend travelers, that mix matters. A small dip in regular gas helps at the margin, but it does not erase the sharper rise over the past month and year. Diesel staying above $6 keeps pressure on work trucks, freight, landscaping, farm trips, and other fuel-heavy businesses.
