Altoona gas eases again while diesel holds just under $6 in AAA check
Altoona gas & diesel watch: regular fell to $4.475 and diesel stayed at $5.952 today, keeping Altoona above Pennsylvania and U.S. averages.
AAA’s latest Altoona price check
Altoona drivers are seeing two different moves at the pump: regular gasoline edged down to $4.475 a gallon, while diesel held at $5.952, just under the $6 mark, in AAA’s May 30 check. Regular gas was down 0.8 cents from yesterday and 8.4 cents from a week ago. Diesel was flat day to day and down 9 cents from a week ago.
The Altoona numbers still sit above the broader benchmarks on diesel and slightly below Pennsylvania on regular gas. AAA lists Pennsylvania regular at $4.509 and U.S. regular at $4.356, while Pennsylvania diesel is $5.834 and the U.S. average is $5.492. That leaves Altoona 3.4 cents below the state regular average, 11.9 cents above the national regular average, 11.8 cents above the state diesel average, and 46 cents above the national diesel average.
For commuters, the regular-gas dip is welcome, even if it is not enough to make fill-ups cheap again. For contractors, landscapers, delivery drivers, farm trucks, and service fleets, diesel is still the bigger pressure point because repeated local runs quickly turn a few cents into real operating cost.
That matters for bids, delivery charges, and weekly budgets for small businesses that depend on trucks and vans. Weekend travelers and families heading out for ball games, day trips, or other local driving can feel it too, especially when one tank has to cover several errands or a longer road trip.
AAA’s current check is only a snapshot, and local pump prices can still vary by station, brand, and side of town. If you are filling up around Altoona, send along the highest and lowest prices you are seeing so other readers can compare notes before they head out.
