Altoona gas and diesel are flat day to day, but both are still above last week
Altoona’s latest AAA check shows regular gas at $4.468 and diesel at $5.956 — both flat from yesterday, but still lower than last week.
AAA’s June 1 price check shows Altoona drivers getting no real relief at the pump today, but also no new spike. Regular gasoline sits at $4.468 a gallon, while diesel is $5.956. Both prices are essentially unchanged from yesterday, but both are still below last week’s levels and well above where they were a year ago.
Regular gas is up just 0.1 cent from yesterday’s $4.469 and down 8.3 cents from a week ago, when AAA had Altoona at $4.551. That keeps local gasoline basically in line with the Pennsylvania average of $4.481 and a little above the U.S. average of $4.322. Compared with a year ago, regular gas is still up about $1.01 a gallon.
Diesel tells a similar story, but the pressure is heavier. Altoona’s diesel average is up 0.3 cent from yesterday’s $5.953 and down 8.7 cents from last week’s $6.043. Even after that pullback, Altoona diesel is still above both the Pennsylvania average of $5.803 and the U.S. average of $5.448. Year over year, diesel is still up about $2.04 a gallon.
What that means for local budgets
For commuters, the message is simple: the cost of getting to work is steady today, but it is still high enough to keep pressure on monthly transportation budgets. For households, the current level can make errands and weekend travel feel more expensive than they should.
Diesel is the bigger cost issue for contractors, delivery drivers, restaurants, service businesses, and anyone who absorbs freight charges or runs fuel-heavy vehicles. Even a small weekly move can matter when margins are thin and fuel is a regular operating expense.
Altoona is not seeing a fresh jump today, but it is still operating from a much higher price floor than a year ago. Send in the highest and lowest pump prices you’re seeing around Altoona, and we’ll keep tracking the local spread.
