Orem-area drivers checking prices on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 (AAA price as of 7/8/26) can see a small split in the Provo-Orem metro averages: regular gasoline is $3.7780 a gallon, up from $3.7590 on Tuesday, while diesel is $4.5300 a gallon, down from $4.5430.
Compared with last week, regular is essentially flat (AAA lists $3.7720 for the Provo-Orem metro one week ago), but diesel has cooled more clearly ($4.6890 last week).
Regular gasoline (Provo-Orem metro)
At $3.7780/gal, regular is slightly higher than yesterday and still below where it was last month ($4.3200, month ago). Itโs also higher than last yearโs same-date comparison ($3.2750, year ago), so budgets may still feel tighter than they did in summer 2025.
Diesel (Provo-Orem metro)
Diesel comes in at $4.5300/gal, easing compared with both yesterday ($4.5430) and last week ($4.6890). The longer view is a win for cost tracking: diesel is far below last monthโs $5.2320, while remaining well above last yearโs $3.6060.
Reminder: AAAโs metro numbers are averages across stations in the Provo-Orem areaโindividual pumps around Orem can be higher or lower than the displayed average.
How this matches the national picture
EIAโs latest weekly Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update, released July 7, 2026, shows the U.S. regular gasoline price at $3.777/gal and on-highway diesel at $4.578/gal (for the week ending July 6). In other words, the Orem-area regular trend is lining up almost exactly with the national figure, while local diesel is running a touch below the U.S. benchmark.
What it means for local readers
- Commuters: Regular is up versus Tuesday, but the monthly picture is still meaningfully lower than last monthโs averageโuse recent local prices when planning trips.
- Delivery drivers, contractors, and service fleets: Diesel easing since last week can help steady operating costs, especially for routes that burn consistent fuel day to day.
- Household budget planning: If fuel is a line item, track the two separate pricesโregular and diesel can move differently, even when they share the same dayโs โprice story.โ
