Ada fuel watch: local pumps versus Minnesota averages
Ada MN Gas & Diesel Watch – Local pumps still undercut Minnesota and U.S. averages, with diesel showing the widest gap for commuters and businesses.
As of May 8, Ada drivers can still find regular fuel under $3 at the pump, while diesel is split between a low-$3 stop and a pricier local option.
One Ada Country Store listing shows regular at $2.59 and diesel at $3.33. Cenex on East Thorpe Avenue shows regular at $2.59 and diesel at $3.75. Those are station snapshots, not a citywide average, but they give local drivers a clear read on the market today.
Regular gas: still a budget-friendly fill-up at both stops
For commuters and families, the headline is simple: regular gas is still under $3 at both listed Ada pumps. That sits well below AAA’s Minnesota average of $4.193 and the U.S. average of $4.546, which means Ada remains a noticeably cheaper place to top off.
Diesel: the bigger story for work trucks and businesses
Diesel is where the gap matters most. Ada’s listed diesel prices of $3.33 and $3.75 are both below AAA’s Minnesota average of $5.425 and the U.S. average of $5.663. For contractors, delivery drivers, farmers, restaurants, and other small businesses that burn through fuel quickly, that difference can add up fast.
The diesel spread between the two Ada stops is also meaningful: 42 cents a gallon. Drivers filling larger tanks may save real money by comparing pumps before they pull in.
Minnesota averages eased a bit, but they are still high
AAA’s Minnesota averages are down slightly from yesterday, with regular off 2.2 cents and diesel off 1.6 cents. Even so, both fuels remain well above last week, last month, and last year, so Ada is still looking like a lower-cost pocket inside a pricier statewide and national market.
That matters for daily life: the commute to work, school trips, service calls, weekend travel, and the fuel bills that hit local businesses every time a truck rolls out. If diesel costs keep bouncing around, the difference between one pump and the next can matter more than many drivers expect.
