Baton Rouge fuel watch: regular gas climbs again while diesel stays above $5
AAA’s April 30 Baton Rouge metro check shows regular gas at $3.775 and diesel at $5.035, with regular rising again and diesel still above $5.
Baton Rouge drivers are seeing a split at the pump again in AAA’s April 30 check: regular gasoline is $3.775 a gallon, while diesel sits at $5.035. Regular is up 3.4 cents from yesterday and 17.7 cents from a week ago. Diesel is basically flat day to day, but still above $5 and only 3.6 cents lower than last week.
Regular gas is the one inching higher right now. AAA’s Baton Rouge metro row shows it also up 19.7 cents from a month ago and 106.1 cents from a year ago. That is the kind of climb commuters and households feel first, especially if they are filling up more than once a week.
Diesel is moving differently. It is not surging today, but it remains expensive enough to matter for contractors, delivery drivers, landscapers, farmers, restaurants, and other small businesses that burn fuel every day. Even with the weekly dip, diesel is still 192.8 cents higher than a year ago in the Baton Rouge metro.
For context, Baton Rouge regular is below Louisiana’s $3.803 average and well below the U.S. average of $4.300. Baton Rouge diesel is also under Louisiana’s $5.053 average and the national $5.496 average. The local market is still cheaper than those benchmarks, but the year-over-year jump is keeping pressure on budgets.
