Cincinnati gas slips to $4.03, diesel to $5.69 in latest AAA check
Cincinnati OH Gas & Diesel Watch – AAA’s latest check shows regular gas at $4.026 and diesel at $5.685, with gas below Ohio and U.S. averages.
Cincinnati drivers are seeing a mixed move at the pump: AAA’s latest check puts regular gas at $4.026 a gallon in the “Cincinnati (OH only)” row, while diesel sits at $5.685. Both are lower than they were yesterday and a week ago, but they are easing at different speeds.
Regular gas is doing the heavier lifting
Regular is down 8.3 cents from yesterday, 50.8 cents from a week ago, and 81.0 cents from a month ago. Even with that decline, it is still above $4 a gallon, which matters for commuters, school runs, service calls, and weekend travel across the metro.
Compared with AAA’s Ohio average of $4.272 and the national average of $4.290, Cincinnati regular gas is cheaper right now. That gives local drivers a little relief relative to the rest of the state and the country, even if the price still feels elevated at the pump.
Diesel is still the bigger cost pressure
Diesel is down 2.3 cents from yesterday and 20.3 cents from last week, but it remains the larger budget item for contractors, delivery fleets, landscapers, bus operators, and other businesses that burn fuel all day. The current Cincinnati diesel average is $5.685 a gallon.
That puts diesel slightly below Ohio’s $5.736 average, but still above the national AAA diesel average of $5.432. For local companies, that gap can show up in route costs, hauling charges, and the price of time-sensitive deliveries even when gasoline is easing faster for everyday drivers.
The broader U.S. backdrop is also easing
The Energy Information Administration’s latest weekly update, released June 2, shows U.S. regular gasoline at $4.305 a gallon and on-highway diesel at $5.350, both lower than the prior week. That supports the same general direction AAA is showing in Cincinnati: not a sharp plunge, but gradual relief.
Year over year, though, the picture is still tougher. Cincinnati regular gas is up 118.9 cents from June 2, 2025, and diesel is up 228.0 cents. So while the recent trend is down, last year’s comparison still explains why many households and businesses feel squeezed.
As always, pump prices can vary from station to station. The city average gives a useful benchmark, but readers may still see a wide spread depending on location, brand, and whether a station is trying to move inventory quickly.
