Spartanburg County outage still disrupts courts and probate access

Spartanburg County’s network and internet outage is still more than a technical headache. Official notices say county offices remain open, but residents, attorneys and others handling court business should expect delays, limited phone access and trouble reaching some systems.

County offices are open, but communications are not normal

The county’s alert center says offices remain open and operational even though some services and communications are temporarily affected. The South Carolina Judicial Branch says Spartanburg County Family Court, General Sessions, Common Pleas, all county magistrates, Probate Court and the Master-in-Equity are dealing with significant communication disruptions.

That notice says courts cannot receive phone calls and cannot access state-hosted applications. A limited number of staff can still access email, and attorneys may continue using the e-filing system. Filings submitted through that system will be considered filed on the date they are uploaded.

Probate users should plan for extra steps

Spartanburg County Probate Court says that, as of June 10, the county’s network and internet outage has limited staff internet and phone access. The court’s OnBase system in its public research room is not available. Probate Court says it remains open to the public, but anyone who wants to review a physical file must schedule an appointment.

That creates a real-world issue for anyone settling an estate, checking a file, or trying to finish a time-sensitive court matter. The outage does not read like a full shutdown, but it does affect how people reach the offices and how quickly they can get information.

FOX Carolina reported June 15 that county offices remained open during the outage, which matches the county’s own notice. The practical takeaway for residents is simple: do not assume regular phone access, research access or court communications will work normally until the county says the problem is fixed.
