Angleton Daily: Science Fair Weekend, School Dance, and Wildcats Hoops
Angleton is easing into the second weekend of February with family events, student achievements, and springlike weather across Brazoria County.
Science Fair fills the fairgrounds
The Brazoria County Fairgrounds in Angleton are hosting the 2026 Science Fair, with exhibits scheduled today and continuing through next week. Students from across the county are bringing projects that range from basic experiments to larger engineering builds, giving families a reason to stop by and explore what local kids are working on.
The fair schedule includes daily science fair listings through February 12, with additional dates later in the month. If you plan to attend, it is a good idea to confirm specific times and division schedules before heading to the fairgrounds on South Downing Road.
ACS daddy-daughter dance tonight
Angleton Christian School’s senior class is capping off the evening with a community daddy-daughter dance on campus along County Road 44. The event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is open beyond just ACS families, giving dads and father figures a chance to share a dressed-up night out with their daughters.
Event organizers are using the dance as both a memory-making night and a class fundraiser. Admission is listed at $40 for a dad-and-daughter pair, with an additional charge for each extra child. Tickets are being sold online through the school, and attendees are encouraged to purchase in advance.
Wildcats fall at Friendswood
On the sports side, the Angleton High School boys varsity basketball team dropped its Friday matchup at Friendswood, 57–35. The Wildcats were coming off a solid win earlier this week over La Porte, where standouts Nathaniel Kabba and Bryson Campbell helped secure the victory, but could not repeat that result on the road.
The Friendswood loss tightens the race in the standings as district play moves deeper into February. Fans will be watching to see how the Wildcats respond in their next outing as they push toward the end of the regular season.
Warm, springlike conditions continue
Across South Texas, including Brazoria County, an early-season warm spell is keeping daytime highs well above normal. Forecasts call for temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees through the weekend and into next week, with limited rain chances and plenty of sun. Residents spending time at outdoor events may want to plan for sunscreen, water, and a breezy, mild evening rather than typical early-February chill.
