Arrest follows street takeover near Doral that injured three; two hit-and-run drivers remain unidentified

A 22-year-old man was arrested after investigators linked him to alleged illegal street-takeover activity near Doral, but the two drivers accused of fleeing after injuring three people remained unidentified in the latest official update.

Damiean Alvarez was arrested July 7 in connection with alleged participation in multiple street takeovers, according to Local 10. The arrest addresses the alleged takeover activity; it does not establish that Alvarez was either driver in the three-person hit-and-run investigation.

Three people injured near Doral

The incident occurred at approximately 3:39 a.m. July 5 at NW 25th Street and NW 76th Avenue. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office case information lists the address as Miami, Florida; the intersection is in the Doral area, and Doral police responded.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies and Doral police began rendering first aid. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported all three injured people to a hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators describe two vehicles

According to the sheriff’s updated account, a black sedan struck two adult women in the roadway. One woman remained on the ground as the sedan went around her and fled.

An adult man then approached to help. An older gold Ford Expedition with a dark-gray lower body struck the man, ran over the woman who remained in the roadway and fled.

Neither driver stopped to render aid. The latest official case information listed both subjects as unknown and described the vehicles as a black sedan and a gold Ford Expedition.

What the arrest establishes

Local 10 reported that investigators saw Alvarez inside a blue Infiniti G35 during alleged takeover activity at two locations, including NW 25th Street and NW 76th Avenue. Deputies said the events involved vehicles blocking intersections while spectators watched or recorded cars performing reckless driving patterns.

Alvarez faces felony charges of drag racing while masked, Local 10 reported. He was given a total bond of $3,500.

The arrest does not establish that Alvarez drove either vehicle involved in the three-victim hit-and-run. The sheriff’s office continued to list both hit-and-run drivers as unidentified, and the investigation remained active.
