A roofing worker was seriously injured on Jan. 28 while removing snow from the roof of the Auburn Senior Community Center in Pettengill Park. Police said the 62‑year‑old was raking snow when an extended metal tool came into contact with an overhead power line, shocking him and causing a fall from a ladder.

Emergency crews treated the man at the scene for burns to his hands and legs before taking him to a Lewiston hospital. He was reported to be in stable condition later that day, and the case has been referred to federal workplace safety regulators while a police investigation continues.
