Austin Bruins Go Pink as City Preps for a Busy Week
Bruins stay hot on the road
The Austin Bruins kept their season rolling Friday night with a 3–1 win over the St. Cloud Norsemen, stretching their win streak to seven games and continuing a strong push at the top of the NAHL Central Division. Three different Bruins found the back of the net in St. Cloud, while the defense limited the Norsemen to a single goal in a steady, workmanlike road effort.
Paint the Rink Pink tonight at Riverside
That road win sets up an even bigger night back home. As part of the community’s Paint the Town Pink campaign, the Bruins will host St. Cloud this evening in their annual Paint the Rink Pink game at Riverside Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m., and fans are encouraged to pack the building in pink to honor neighbors who are fighting cancer, remember those lost, and celebrate survivors.
The event channels local energy into research support for the Hormel Institute, with game proceeds, special pink merchandise, and in-arena fundraising all directed to advancing cancer research. The tradition dates back to 2011 and has grown into one of Austin’s signature winter nights, blending high-level junior hockey with a cause that touches nearly every family in town.
City Hall: meetings and projects ahead
Looking past the weekend, City Hall has a full slate of February activity. The Library Board meets Monday, February 9, at 4:30 p.m. at the Austin Public Library on 4th Avenue NE, with an option for residents to monitor the meeting online. Later in the week, on Wednesday, February 11, Public Works will host a Street Reconstruction Open House in the City Hall Council Chambers to walk neighbors through upcoming road work plans and answer questions.
The city is also inviting donations to its 2026 Flower Basket Fund to help pay for purchasing and maintaining the hanging baskets that brighten the downtown district each warm season. City leaders describe the effort as a simple way for residents and businesses to keep the core of town welcoming for visitors and locals alike.
