Bellevue traffic restrictions include Bellevue Way, Lake Hills closure

Bellevue transportation officials have identified two active construction restrictions affecting major roads in the city: lane closures on southbound Bellevue Way and a full closure of part of Lake Hills Boulevard.

On Aug. 8, southbound Bellevue Way at Northeast Second Street is scheduled for lane closures and traffic shifts from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The work is for a sewer tie-in.

Lake Hills Boulevard closure

Lake Hills Boulevard is fully closed between 151st Avenue Southeast and 154th Avenue Southeast while crews replace the Kelsey Creek culverts. The closure is scheduled to continue through mid-August.

The city’s traffic notice also references the North Mercer Island/Enatai Sewer Upgrade Project in southwest Bellevue. That project is included in the advisory alongside the Bellevue Way sewer-tie-in work.

The restrictions affect travel through central and southeastern Bellevue, including routes used by residents, commuters and construction traffic. The Bellevue Way work is limited to the stated Aug. 8 window, while the Lake Hills Boulevard closure remains in place for a longer period as the culvert work proceeds.

Lake Hills Boulevard connects the two affected endpoints at 151st Avenue Southeast and 154th Avenue Southeast, making the closure relevant to traffic using that section of the road. Travelers using southbound Bellevue Way near Northeast Second Street or Lake Hills Boulevard in the closure area should account for the posted restrictions.

The city notice gives mid-August as the expected duration for the Lake Hills Boulevard closure but does not provide a more precise reopening date. It also does not quantify the delays drivers may experience.
