Boyle Heights fire recovery: LADOT paused DASH/Cityride fares and added buses
After the June 17 Boyle Heights warehouse fire, LADOT paused DASH and Cityride fares in the neighborhood, added buses, and kept the Community Resource Center open through July 17.
Los Angeles residents heading to Boyle Heights for fire-recovery help may see two immediate transportation changes: LADOT has paused fare collection on DASH Boyle Heights and on Cityride Dial-a-Ride within Boyle Heights, and it has added buses to increase DASH service in the neighborhood.
Mayor Karen Bass issued a Declaration of Local Emergency on June 20, 2026, citing the June 17 warehouse fire and related public-health and safety concerns. LADOTโs transit actions are tied to that emergency response.
LADOTโs DASH and Cityride changes
In its July 9, 2026 weekly update, LADOT said the fare pause will continue until the emergency declaration is lifted.
LADOT also said it added buses to the DASH Boyle Heights route to increase service to every 10โ15 minutes.
For Cityride Dial-a-Ride: LADOT said the service is set up to support seniors and people with disabilities. To request transportation, call (213) 808-7433, (323) 808-7433, or (818) 808-7433.
Where riders can connect to recovery support
LADOT said the neighborhood transportation options can help residents reach the Boyle Heights Community Resource Center and other recovery support.
Emergency Management says the Boyle Heights Community Resource Center will remain open daily except Sunday through July 17, 2026 at the Lou Costello Jr. Recreation Center. Emergency Management also notes that support-service times are posted separately and may change.
What to watch next
The biggest timing question for riders is the fare pause: LADOT frames it as continuing until the City lifts the emergency declaration. For ongoing updates, check LADOTโs weekly update page and Emergency Managementโs Boyle Heights recovery updates.
