Celina ISD Plans to Open Three Facilities for 2026-27 School Year
Celina Independent School District is scheduled to open three major facilities for the 2026-27 school year as the district expands to accommodate rapid local growth. Students are scheduled to return to class on Aug. 12, 2026.
One of the new facilities is Willard Middle School, which is being added as Celinaโs public-school infrastructure grows alongside the city. The expansion gives the district new facilities to support the communityโs increasing demand for school space.
What is planned at Willard Middle School
Willard Middle School will include secured entry vestibules intended to create a controlled entrance area for the campus. The buildingโs storm shelter will also function as a gymnasium, combining emergency-protection space with a regular school-use facility.
The school is one of three major facilities Celina ISD is preparing to open for the coming academic year. The district has not publicly identified in the reported announcement the names and capacities of the other two facilities.
Why the openings matter
The scheduled openings mark a significant expansion of Celinaโs public-school infrastructure. They come as the district responds to the scale of local growth and the related need for additional facilities.
For families in Celina, the next major milestone is the start of the 2026-27 school year. Students are scheduled to return Aug. 12, 2026, when the districtโs planned facility expansion is expected to move from construction and preparation into daily school operations.
The announcement does not provide the total construction cost or the enrollment capacity of each facility. Those figures would help show the size of the districtโs investment and how much additional student capacity the projects are designed to provide.
