Celina ISD schedules three facility openings for 2026-27

Celina ISD is scheduled to open two new schools and an expanded high school for the 2026-27 school year, creating three major facility openings in one academic year.

Students are scheduled to return to campus on Aug. 12, 2026. The projects will expand school infrastructure serving Celina families as the district continues its transition from a small-town system into a larger public-school system.

Willard Middle School includes shelter and security features

One of the new facilities is Willard Middle School. The school includes secured entry vestibules, which are designed to control access at the building’s entrances.

Willard also includes a storm shelter that functions as a gymnasium when it is not being used for emergency protection. The dual-use design gives the facility both an everyday athletic function and a designated shelter role.

The district’s 2026-27 plans also include an expanded Celina High School and another new school. Together, the scheduled projects represent a significant change in the district’s facilities at a time of rapid growth in Celina.

School expansion is part of broader local growth

Celina’s adopted fiscal 2025-26 budget describes major growth and related infrastructure needs across the city. Its capital program includes a new police headquarters and Fire Station 3, and it schedules Fire Station 4 to break ground in 2026.

Those municipal projects are separate from the school facilities, but they provide broader context for the public construction underway in Celina. The school openings are expected to affect students and families beginning Aug. 12.
