Chandler-area gas reaches $4.50 as diesel climbs to $5.57
AAA’s July 31 East Valley averages put regular gas at $4.502 and diesel at $5.570, with both fuels higher than yesterday, last week, last month and last year.
Regular gasoline in the East Valley reached $4.50 per gallon in AAA’s July 31 price check, while diesel climbed to $5.570. Both fuels were higher than the previous day, a week earlier, a month earlier and the same period last year, adding potential cost pressure for Chandler-area drivers, households and commercial operators.
Regular gas reaches $4.502
AAA listed the East Valley average for regular gasoline at $4.502 per gallon on July 31. That was up 3.5 cents from the previous day, 14.0 cents from a week earlier, 59.0 cents from a month earlier and $1.153 from a year earlier.
The figure is an East Valley metro average covering Chandler-area drivers. It is not a Chandler-only station average, and it does not mean every station is charging the same price. Still, crossing the $4.50 mark can make a noticeable difference for households that fill up frequently, especially commuters with long daily drives or multiple vehicles.
Diesel rises to $5.570
Diesel moved separately, reaching an East Valley average of $5.570 per gallon. The price rose 2.5 cents from the prior day, 18.0 cents from the previous week, 63.9 cents from the previous month and $1.941 from a year earlier.
Diesel costs matter directly to contractors, landscapers, delivery fleets, service companies and other businesses that operate work trucks or equipment. Higher fuel prices can raise operating expenses for those businesses, although the available data does not establish whether local companies have changed their prices, routes or plans in response.
How the East Valley compares
Arizona’s AAA averages on the same check were $4.450 for regular gasoline and $5.558 for diesel. The East Valley regular-gas average was therefore 5.2 cents higher than the state figure, while the East Valley diesel average was 1.2 cents higher.
For broader context, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported national averages of $4.096 for regular gasoline and $5.313 for on-highway diesel for the week ending July 27. Those figures use a different date and geography, so they are not a direct July 31 comparison with Chandler-area prices.
Individual stations in Chandler and nearby East Valley communities can vary from the metro average. Price-shopping may matter more for households, delivery operators and businesses that refuel several times a week, particularly while both fuel categories are rising across the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly comparisons.
