Chandler Voters Weigh Public Safety Bond as Council Meets with Congressman
Chandler, AZ – April 1, 2026 – Voters eye a $5.8M public safety bond, council meets with Rep. Stanton, and parks host adaptive camp sign-ups.
Chandler voters have several important civic updates to track this week, from a proposed public safety bond to federal engagement at City Hall and new recreation programming.
$5.8M Bond Headed to May Ballot
The Chandler City Council has called for a May 2 bond election seeking authorization to issue up to $5,864,000 for public safety facilities. If approved, the funding would support the design, construction, renovation and equipping of police and fire facilities, along with improvements tied to emergency management functions.
The bond would also allow for land acquisition tied to those projects. City officials say the measure is focused on maintaining service levels as the community grows. Residents will have the opportunity to vote for or against the proposal, with early in-person voting scheduled to begin April 20 and run through April 28.
Special Council Meeting with Rep. Greg Stanton
City leaders are also set to meet with Congressman Greg Stanton during a special City Council meeting on Thursday, April 2, at Chandler City Hall. The morning session will take place in the 5th Floor Conference Room.
While a detailed agenda has not been widely circulated, such meetings typically focus on federal funding opportunities, transportation priorities and infrastructure coordination. With regional freeway projects and capital improvements underway, federal partnerships remain a key component of long-term planning.
Adaptive Recreation Registration Opens
On the parks and recreation front, the city hosted Camp Challenge registration night on March 31 at the Community Center on Commonwealth Avenue. The adaptive recreation program is designed for youth and young adults with developmental disabilities who want to attend summer camp.
City staff were on hand to assist families with intake paperwork and program details. The effort reflects Chandler’s continued investment in inclusive programming and community-based services.
