City Hall Wellness Milestone, Hole Lake Revival, and Citrus Festival Return Lead Riverside Headlines
Riverside is seeing momentum on several fronts this week, from workplace wellness at City Hall to long-awaited park improvements and a popular spring festival making its return.
City Hall Earns Blue Zones Certification
Riverside City Hall has officially become the first government building in the city to earn certification as a Blue Zones Project Approved Worksite. The designation recognizes efforts to create a healthier workplace environment for employees.
City leaders marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting for a new employee downshift space along the second-floor walkway between City Hall and the parking garage. The area includes seating, plants and healthier snack options, all designed to encourage short breaks and stress reduction during the workday.
With this recognition, Riverside now has eight approved worksites as part of its broader Blue Zones initiative, a multi-year partnership focused on improving community health.
Hole Lake Revitalization Moves Forward
A long-discussed transformation of Hole Lake is expected to begin taking shape this year. City officials are advancing plans to convert the overgrown and often-neglected area into a more inviting public space.
The vision includes walking trails, gathering areas and potential waterfront amenities aimed at turning the site into a community destination rather than an eyesore. Supporters say the project represents an opportunity to reclaim unused land and improve quality of life in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Citrus Festival Returns March 28
Looking ahead, the 4th Annual Citrus Festival will return to California Citrus State Historic Park on Saturday, March 28. The free event will feature live music, citrus tastings, cooking demonstrations and family-friendly activities across the 247-acre Arlington park.
Organizers say the festival celebrates Riverside’s agricultural roots while offering residents a chance to enjoy the outdoors as spring gets underway.
