Busy Saturday of community events

It’s a packed Saturday on the local calendar. Early risers can head to the Shepherd Cross Winter Barn Sale just north of town, where shoppers are invited to browse handmade goods and support both local and international missions.

Late morning, the Boutique Bite & Buy Valentine’s Market at the Claremore Conference Center brings a mix of gifts, food vendors and self-care items, positioned as a one-stop shop for early Valentine’s Day inspiration. A Winter Seed Sowing Workshop in the afternoon offers hands-on instruction for gardeners ready to get a jump on spring.

In the evening, families will be dressing up for the 18th Annual Me & My Guy Dance at the Rogers State University ballroom, a long-running tradition that pairs kids with dads, granddads and other mentors for a night of photos, music and memory-making.

Around town, additional happenings include a community blood drive themed as a superhero challenge, a local business anniversary celebration and a church Indian taco fundraiser, giving residents several ways to give back while connecting with neighbors.

Claremore athletes mark National Signing Day

On Thursday, the local school district celebrated National Signing Day with 15 Zebra student-athletes officially committing to continue their careers at the collegiate level. The ceremony highlighted months, and in many cases years, of work from students, families and coaches to secure the right academic and athletic fit.

The district emphasized the balance these athletes have shown in the classroom and in competition, and encouraged younger students to see the signings as a roadmap for what steady effort can produce.

Rogers County rivalry decided in Sequoyah

On the basketball court, this week’s Rogers County Rivalry games at Claremore Sequoyah went the way of the Inola Longhorns, who earned the 2026 rivalry title with a win over the host boys team. The matchup drew strong student sections and community turnout, as fans from across the county made the short trip to town.

While the loss stings for the home side, the series once again underscored how high school sports remain a central gathering point for communities across Rogers County, filling winter nights with noise, color and plenty of bragging rights.
