Coffeyville continues data-center review and plans August public information session

Coffeyville officials said July 15 that discussions about possible future data-center development remain active, but the city has not made a final decision or approved a project.

City Manager Ben Brubaker used the community update to explain what a data center is and describe the city’s current review. Officials said Coffeyville is gathering information, evaluating opportunities and conducting due diligence before considering any proposal. The update did not identify a prospective developer.

The city plans to release an explanatory video and host a public information session during the first week of August, according to The Coffeyville Journal. The session is intended to give residents an opportunity to learn more, ask questions and hear from city leadership. Coffeyville said it will provide additional updates as information becomes available.

The Journal also reported that Brubaker said he had not signed nondisclosure agreements related to the discussions, and that neither had the Coffeyville City Commission. The planned session is an information and public-input opportunity, not an announcement of an approved development. Any future proposal would still need to go through city consideration after the information-gathering and review work is complete.
